Belief-made, not make believe

Just my opinion of course, but in an age of information ubiquity I think well designed games and immersive experiences have the potential to rival science as an explanatory mechanism. Science masterfully lays bare the machinery of the universe. And in both there is of course discovery.

But only in play, meaning.

Check out this wonderful paper on alternate reality gaming and the "performance of belief," which makes what I think is an important distinction between make believe and belief-made.
